Middlesex CC Theater Department Stages ‘Godspell’
Merrimack College’s Stevens Auditorium, 315 Turnpike St., North Andover
5/1/2014 12:00 AM
5/4/2014 11:59 PM
The Middlesex Community College Theater Department will stage the rock opera “Godspell” for six performances May 1-4 in Merrimack College’s Stevens Auditorium, 315 Turnpike St., North Andover.
Curtain times for “Godspell” are 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday, May 1 & 2; and 2 and 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, May 3 & 4. Tickets are $15 (MCC students, staff and faculty $10) and can be purchased online at https://
or by calling the box office at 978-458-2429.
Based on the Gospel According to Saint Matthew, “Godspell” features music and new lyrics by Stephen Schwartz (of “Wicked” fame). Though well known today, when “Godspell” first opened on Broadway in 1971 it broke new ground in its stage treatment of the final days of Jesus Christ.
The rock opera boasts a string of well-loved songs, led by the international hit, "Day By Day." As the cast performs "Prepare Ye the Way of the Lord," "Learn Your Lessons Well," "All For the Best," "All Good Gifts," "Turn Back, O Man" and "By My Side," the parables of Jesus Christ come humanly and hearteningly to life.
For more information about the MCC Theater Department production of “Godspell,” advance reservations, and group sales (10 or more), call the box office at 978-458-5429 or visit: https://
